		<description>I don&#039;t agree with him on the conclusion - that there is more risk globally from pigs than sharks has no bearing at all on the risk assessment that I (as an individual) should make when encountering a pig or a shark.

The suggestion in the statement is that we&#039;re bad at assessing risk because we fear sharks more than we fear pigs.   

Where I disagree with Bruce is that I believe that humans are excellent judges of risk to ourselves - our instinct is completely appropriate.  And that in making the distinction between local and global risk, you can accept that - it doesn&#039;t make humans wrong for not being afraid of if you consider that they&#039;re making a local (not global) assessment of risk.</description>
