Reading Buckingham's first major work, Now! Discover Your Strengths, was transformative for both my life and career. I finally learned to appreciate who I was, not who I thought I should be.

The first is the best (the sequel is a rehash of the existing stuff) and I recommend everyone read it, understand it and live it.

Then use those strengths to go through Mike Murray's process and figure out what you should be doing and how you should get there.
