Rashid Khan has strengthened his hold on the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI bowling rankings, while West Indies captain Shai Hope has broken into the top 10 of the T20I batting charts.
Rashid claimed figures of 4-17 against Zimbabwe in the ODI tri-series in Abu Dhabi, as Afghanistan registered a commanding 158-run victory on Monday. The performance has lifted him to 742 rating points and tightened his grip at the top of the ICC bowling charts. He now sits 80 points clear of second-placed Abrar Ahmed, who has 662 points.
Kuldeep Yadav moves into the top five
The top five ODI bowlers see one other change. Kuldeep Yadav moves up a spot to No.5 and replaces Maheesh Theekshana. Kuldeep picked up seven wickets in three ODIs against the West Indies at the start of the month. Keshava Maharaj and Mitchell Santner are ranked No.3 and No.4, respectively.
Atal and Taskin make gains
Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal was another major beneficiary of the latest update. His 102 helped Afghanistan post 294 after choosing to bat first, and it earned him a 12-place rise to 20th in the ODI batting rankings.
Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed also made significant progress in the bowling rankings. He moved up nine places to a career-best 12th after returning figures of 3-44 against Zimbabwe in the tri-series.
Shai Hope enters T20I top 10 after century against India
West Indies skipper Shai Hope had a memorable run in the recent series against India. He scored two T20I tons and finished the tour with four hundreds overall. He has now moved up to No. 9 in the T20I batting rankings.
Hope scored both T20I hundreds when West Indies were staring at a series deficit, and his knocks helped them mount strong comebacks. The series eventually ended 2-2.
West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie was among the notable movers in the T20I bowling rankings. He climbed 10 places to 26th.
